In being truly listened too, accepted and able to be yourself; gentle guidance in mindfulness creates the nourishing ground to support unblocking barriers, to enable change and transformation.
Drawing on your curiosity in self-discovery, with my skills in mindfulness and therapy, our focus is to increase your self-awareness and self-understanding, to allow greater choices, sense of ease, and freedom in your life.
I aim to listen deeply, with a kind, non-judgemental and accepting welcome. You may truly be yourself, in this safe space, along with any vulnerabilities, and feel at home.
I offer to guide you with mindfulness or relaxation practices in our session, to help de-stress, ease tension, and settle the mind and body. These practices will help cultivate the ground of self-compassion, connection and resources needed from which to grow greater capacities of mind and heart. Leading to live a freer, fuller life.
Strengthening your connections to whatever is wholesomely nourishing and meaningful in your life gives a sense of safety, love and belonging. This is individual and may involve recollections or images of nature, family, music, friendship, comforting words, or activities etc. This step will further anchor you in cultivating the courage to begin integrating your challenges.
Guidance in developing self-compassion forms an integral, foundational part of our sessions. This is to encourage a kind, curious approach to self-discovery. We can be inclusive of all parts of ourselves, regardless if they seem fragmented. In being open to befriending our vulnerabilities, rather than turning away, we can embrace life in all its fullness.
Our sessions encourage the development of greater awareness and clear seeing of your difficulties. Uncovering and attending to them with support, may be key to unlocking a more peaceful and meaningful life.
These difficulties might be related to your mind, such as:
Negative / anxious thoughts
Unhelpful habit patterns
Or related to the heart, such as:
Overwhelming emotions and feelings
Fear, loss or emptiness
In building a strong foundation through gaining greater self-compassion, resources and re-connections with life, your mind and heart may become more expansive . This enables guidance to greater awareness and understanding of your difficulties, and growth in your capacity and ability to embrace them. This guided pathway of self-discovery opens the door to greater choices, balance and transformation in your life.
* Due to life’s pressures it is very common for our minds to get caught up, on overdrive, become anxious, overwhelmed and sometimes stuck in fight and flight survival mode.
* Likewise, our minds can also fall into freeze survival mode, when we feel numb and wish to avoid and hide away from life.
* When these things happen our nervous system is unbalanced and we may be operating from the small, primitive, limbic region of our brain. As a result our minds and hearts can become limited, and restricted.
* We can become stuck in unhelpful habit patterns that don’t serve us. This may lead us to experiencing a whole host of perpetual feelings and emotions, for example stress, loss, anger and/or lack of meaning.
* Our sessions seek to bring our minds and hearts back into balance with support through our therapeutic relationship, mindfulness and relaxation practices, drawing on and developing self-compassion, connection and resources.
* From here, greater awareness and understanding is fostered through support, to learn about the nature of your difficulties, and to gently start to embrace them and let them go.
* With a more open and expanded heart and mind, you may respond to your inner and outer world more wisely, and notice improvements in how you relate to yourself, others and to your own life in general.
Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
The Summer Day by Mary Oliver.
Mindfulness can be for everybody and essentially encourages a way of being and relating to people and our world with greater understanding, kindness and acceptance. It serves to expand our mind, see the bigger picture, and be inclusive of all the light and darkness in ourselves and the world.
Within mindfulness there is an understanding of the inherent wisdom, compassion and love within present moment awareness. This could be described as the essence where all nature, life and ourselves emerge, and are interconnected. Connecting and resting in present moment awareness often unveils a natural sense of knowing, allowing us to respond to life with greater clarity, wisdom and tenderness.
Often in our culture it is normal for our sense of happiness to be dependent on our mental constructs of expectations, judgements, fears and desires. However a more genuine state of happiness may be found through mindfulness, and drawing upon present moment awareness to bring inner peace, harmony, and a deeper sense of connection to oneself and the world.
